Overlook the world from the mountain peak and set your mind free on this 4-day trek in the Atlas Mountains. Discover the slightly challenging hike which composes of more ascents and descents than some of the other options, and enjoy plenty of moments to clear your head. Observe the greens of junipers and pines, which will be quickly replaced by the browns of old houses and terraced fields of corn and barley which perfectly demonstrate the cultural adaptation to nature. Berber villages are farming communities and terraced fields with their crops play a crucial role in the village life and economy. They are connected with ingenious irrigation channels so they are never without life-giving water to the settlements. Throughout the trek, it is curious to observe how the local people use the inaccessible terrain to get the most from it. All the fields are the same, but also different in detail.

Day 1: Imlil – Tizi n’Tamaterte – Tachddirt

The day’s trekking will take you from Imlil, and cross to the other side of the valley. It involves around 5-6 hours of walking and takes you from 1740m above sea level to around 2300m. Spend the night in a guest house in a Berber village and on your way there you can enjoy your lunch at the pass.

Day 2: Tachddirt – Imsker Village

After breakfast, set off on a hike up along the Valley passing through the walnuts groves up to to the pass of Tachdirt (1995m). Continue through a rare, almost flat stretch until when you get to water spring on your way, where you will stop for a wild picnic amidst the silence nature provides. After some 2 and half hours relatively easy walking, your afternoon’s hike takes you down along the edges of the forest until you reach the Berber Village where you will have your dinner and spend the in a Berber gite.

Day 3: Imsker – Tizi n’ Libour Pass – Tizi Oussem

Set off in the morning for a 5-hour hike up through groves of walnut trees, fields of corn and barley to greet the many men and women sheep and goat herders. Traverse the Azzaden Valley to descend amongst the juniper trees until you come to a small spring set amongst the trees where you will stop for a picnic. Once refreshed, you are off down winding tracks of upper slopes for some 3 hours to come to a small river at the beginning of the valley. From here you enter the village where you will spend the night in a Berber House. In the evening, you’ll have the opportunity to try the local steam bath or hammam.

Day 4: Tizi Oussem – Imlil valley

Today involves a fantastic climb out of the Azzadene Valley. Head up the valley towards the summer village at the top of the valley from where you’ll trek up to the Waterfalls prior to trekking back over the pass at (2489m) for lunch. After a delicious lunch prepared by the team, you will be descending down into Imlil to spend the night in your place or you can choose to take transport down to Marrakech.
